Southwest Florida Botox and Dysport
When you look in the mirror and make a motion that develops a deep crease or wrinkle that bothers you it might be time to consider Botox® or Dysport®. These substances weaken the muscle motion and therefore the wrinkles that they cause. The most common places where they are used are the frown lines between the eyebrows, the forehead and the smile lines to the sides of the eyes. It is important to weaken the creases of the forehead and the frown lines before they get so deep that they cause a red, depressed crease even when at rest. When this happens, the collagen in the area has been affected and it is much more difficult to treat. In addition to stopping motion now you have to rebuild the damaged collagen with fillers and perhaps even the fractional CO2 laser.
Botox® and Dysport® are both placed with simple injections directly into the muscle of concern. It takes about 2-5 days for the effect to occur with the duration of action in the range of 4-6 months. In addition to the areas described above I have also used Botox® to raise the eyebrows (chemical browplasty), decrease wrinkles of motion around the lips, and elevate the corners of the mouth as well as medical indications such as spasm of the muscles around the eye (blepharospasm) and vocal cord movement disorders.
My experience with Botox® has been over the past 15 years. It has an excellent safety record in cosmetics and Dysport® has provided a very useful alternative. They provide the only treatment for those wrinkles and grooves caused by muscle motion and have excellent patient satisfaction. Feel free to call us to discuss further.
