Southwest Florida Sculptra® and Microlipoinjection Face Volumization

Along with the effects of gravity and loss of suspension of the facial structures, the loss of facial volume adds to the deflated, aged appearance of the face.  Used by themselves or in conjunction with face lift procedures, volumization of the face with either Southwest Sculptra® or Microlipoinjection can return youthful fullness and support.  Consider a balloon – when filled with air it’s “skin” is tight and shiny.  But when it is deflated the “skin” becomes wrinkled and dull.  This is a simplistic but hopefully useful analogy.

I use these agents to provide fullness to areas of the face – usually the cheeks and the hollows just below the cheeks.  This, like elevation of the facial musculature and related structures by face lifting techniques, adds to the “olive” youthful shape of the face we are trying to achieve.  In addition, the new volume supports the skin and provides for some elevation as the skin stretches over the new found fullness.

Southwest Florida Sculptra® is a substance that is injected under the skin spread out in a cris-cross fashion.  Typically 4 -6 treatments are performed with 1 month between treatments.  Around the fourth treatment you will notice a slow thickening and fullness of the treated area.  It is new collagen that your body makes in response to the substance, not the substance itself that provides the new volume.  This is different than the “fillers” discussed in the previous section of this website.  The effect from Sculptra® is slow and subtle as it increases for 6 months after last treatment.  Once the final result is achieved you can expect 85% to remain at three years and 65% at five years.  I find that most of my patients will return for 1-2 treatments at the 2.5 to 3 years for maintenance.

Southwest Florida Microlipoinjection techniques utilize fat harvested from the abdomen and transferred to the area of concern.  Newer techniques have increased the percentage of fat that “takes” and, when met with new blood supply the transferred fat lasts indefinitely.  Usually, I find that you know how much will remain at 1-2 months.  Further treatments can be performed as needed until the right amount is achieved.  These procedures are performed in the office under local anesthesia.  There is some thought that the extra blood supply brought about by the fat transfer is beneficial for the appearance and elasticity of the skin

Southwest Florida Volumization techniques can be customized for your needs and added, if needed, to facelift techniques.  The combination can yield a multi pronged approach to reversing the effects of aging on the face yielding the best end result.  Feel free to call us to discuss this further or attending one of our seminars.
