Dr. Stevens Introduces New Technology to SWFLPosted on Sunday, August 31st, 2014 by Douglas M. Stevens, MD
In July, our entire office went to the 2014 Vegas Cosmetic Meeting held at the Bellagio resort. It was an excellent meeting with representatives from the specialties of dermatology, plastic surgery, oculoplastic surgery and facial plastic surgery. Everyone shared their stories and experiences freely. It made for a very information meeting.
During this conference, I came across some technologies that caught my interest. For several years now, I have been looking at imaging systems that might be of use to our patients. One, called Visia® gives a computer analysis of the skin with respect to smoothness, pore size, pigmentation, sun damage (and risk of malignancy) and redness or vessels. I want to invite all of you to come in and have a consultation with Elise, our aesthetician, and have a Visia® computer skin analysis. It is an excellent way to look at your current skin health and status and follow the results of skin care, IPL, laser or other treatments that you might have.
In addition to the Visia® skin analysis, we are now offering three dimensional Vectra® facial volume analysis. All of us in cosmetics are talking about volumization of the face – in particular the midface- and the three dimensional picture will help show you what we are seeing, what improvements can be made with simple injections and will allow for even more accurate post procedure photographs.
I have always been a big proponent of laser technologies and we are adding to our practice the ability to perform hair removal, erbium laser resurfacing (which we will use independently or in conjunction with our fractional CO2 laser to improve the results when treating deep perioral wrinkles), and tattoo removal. The new equipment also enhances our current IPL treatments.
Finally, from the wound healing and pain management worlds we are one of the first cosmetic practices in the country to adopt the MLS laser system which we will use to speed recovery of our facelift and laser patients.
We are excited by all the new technologies that we are bringing into our practice. We invite you to come in to discuss them or, better yet, have a Visia® or Vectra® analysis performed.
