Best Ways to Treat Wrinkles and Frown LinesPosted on Friday, May 9th, 2014 by Douglas M. Stevens, MD
I like to separate these into those lines of motion versus those that are there at rest.
Lines of motion typically can be anywhere but the areas that are typically treated with Botox® or Dysport® are typically the number eleven lines in between the eyebrows, the forehead and the smile lines that happen at the corner of the eyes. These wrinkles are effectively treated by stopping the muscle motion that creates them. The treatment lasts 4-6 months. It is important to stop lines of motion before the skin is damaged and creases become persistent even at rest – once this happens then it becomes more difficult but not impossible to treat.
For those lines that are there at rest we utilize lasers, fillers, volumization or a number of other techniques. These treatments are performed in the office and typically require nothing more than application of an anesthetic crème. More severe lines that persist when at rest may require high intensity laser resurfacing to maximize the results. The results gained from Laser treatment are a reset of the skin – reversing long term damage.
I discuss the treatment of wrinkles and frown lines in my seminars, which occur every month. If you are interested in more details concerning the many techniques available consider coming to a seminar or make a consultation with me. I will be happy to see you.
